If you're thinking about renting a property with us or are already a tenant you might have a few questions that need answered. Please check through all the FAQs below and if there is something new you need to ask us, don't hesitate to call or email.

  • How far is your Leeds office from the universities?

    Our head office in Leeds is 1 minutes’ walk from the Parkinson steps at University of Leeds and 5 minutes’ walk from Leeds Beckett Student Union.

  • How do I get to your Leeds office?

    Our head office is located at 6 Blenheim Terrace, just opposite the University of Leeds Laidlaw Library (Blenheim Terrace is an extension of Woodhouse Lane).

    Travelling by car: Use our free customer parking. If you use a sat-nav our postcode is ‘LS2 9HZ’.

    Travelling by train: We are approximately 20 minutes’ walk from Leeds train station, there are taxis at the station or you can catch a bus.

    Travelling by bus: If you are coming from Headingley then get the bus to the Parkinson steps Leeds University and walk down. If you’re getting the bus from Leeds city centre get off the bus at Unipol / The Fenton pub, cross the road and walk up. 

  • When is the Leeds office open?

    The YPP Lettings office is open as follows;

    Monday - Friday: 9.00am – 5.30pm (or until 7.30pm by appointment only)

    Saturday: 10.00am – 4.00pm (by appointment only)

    Sunday: closed

  • What is the best way to contact YPP?

  • How do I book a viewing?

    You can book a viewing by phone, email or by dropping into our office in Leeds or York. If you find an apartment you would like to view on our website, simply select ‘book a viewing’ and choose which date and time suits you best. We’ll meet you at the property or we can meet you at the Leeds office and drive you to the property.

  • How do I sign for a property?

  • What documents do I need to bring with me to complete a Tenancy Agreement?

    Identification: Passport (+BRP/VISA). If you don't have a passport we can accept a UK driver’s licence and birth certificate.

    A proof of address: Official letters which show your address for the last three years. These letters must have your name and full address on the letter head (e.g. bank statement or utility bill).

    Proof of employment/education: If you’re a professional you’ll need to provide a copy of your employment contract or a written reference from your line manager/HR. We will also contact them by phone to confirm employment. If you’re a student you must provide your student ID card or acceptance letter to the University (Student ID must be in date during tenancy). 

    Bank account: Information of your UK bank account from which you'll pay your rent.

    Guarantor: Information of a UK homeowner who will act as your guarantor.

  • What is a guarantor?

    A guarantor is someone over the age of 18 that agrees to take joint financial responsibility on a tenancy. Once they have signed to be a guarantor they are liable to pay the rent for the property if for any reason you are unable to pay what is owed. If you need someone to be a guarantor for you, the best people to ask are family members, friends, work colleagues or your employer. UK and International citizens are able to use a guarantor.

  • How much is the deposit?

    5 weeks rent. Please enquire for more details.

  • Are there any admin fees?

    YPP do not charge any admin fees.

  • Have you got an office in Harrogate?

    We do not have an office in the Harrogate area but have a designated Lettings Consultant who works in the area.

  • Do you offer rolling contracts?

    No, however there are times when the landlord will be willing to make shorter extensions e.g. from July to September (a 2-month extension on a 12-month contract).

  • Will I get my deposit back?

    You will get your deposit back in full approximately 2 weeks after the end of your tenancy as long as the rent and bills are paid in full, the property is cleaned to a high standard and there are no damages (fair wear and tear is expected).

  • Do you allow pets?

    We do not allow pets in our properties.

  • Do you allow short term lets?

    Our standard tenancy is 12 months though we do allow shorter tenancies in some of our properties. To find out more, please contact our friendly team of Lettings Consultants.

  • How do I pay my rent?

    Rent can be paid by setting up a standing order with your bank using the reference code provided on your tenancy agreement. Or you can pay in the office with either cash or credit/debit card. You can also pay over the phone by calling the office number 0113 244 4666.

    A structured payment plan will be explained to you when signing for a property. 

  • Are there any communal areas?

    In our larger developments there are some communal areas such as resident lounge, gym or garden areas.

  • Is Wi-Fi included?

    Wi-Fi is included in the rental price for most of our properties, though please check in the property features as in some properties you will need to arrange your own Wi-Fi.

  • How do I make a complaint?

  • How do I collect my keys?

    You can collect your keys on the first day of your tenancy from our head office in Leeds or our office in York. If you have rented a property in Manchester or Harrogate and struggle to get to one of our offices, we can send a Lettings Consultant to meet you at the property.

  • Is there bike storage?

    Many of our properties have bike storage, please check in the property features. If you are bringing a bike we recommend you invest in a good bike lock, register your bike, get your bike security marked and get your bike insured.

  • What if my post is delivered when I’m out?

    Our larger developments include a concierge service to sign for mail (Piccadilly, Q One, Q Two, Park Square, Crown Residence) during working hours. If you live in a smaller property you can set your parcel delivery to a safe place instead.

  • Is smoking allowed inside the property?

    All of our properties are non-smoking. If you smoke, you must do this outside the property. In our larger properties we have designated smoking bins by the entrance to the building.

  • Are your properties accredited?

    We are proud to say we are part of a number of accreditation schemes to ensure we achieve and go above the minimum standards for health and safety. These schemes include Leeds Landlords Accreditation Scheme, Unipol and Yor Property. We are also regulated by PRS, LLAS and RLA.
